120 MW BESS Project Construction

120 MW BESS Project Construction

19/06/2026

Grid balancing, peak shaving, and independence from volatile generation — these are the vital challenges solved by Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Today, BESS is one of the most attractive investment avenues in the energy sector, offering predictable returns, fast deployment, and surging demand from grid operators.

⚡️ One of such large-scale facilities is a 120 MW BESS (Phase 1 — 80 MW), fully implemented by the #EDS team.

What lies behind these figures? A comprehensive, full-cycle turnkey workflow executed entirely by our team:

Grid Connection: construction and grid integration of a 110 kV cable line.

110/35 kV Substation Infrastructure: installation of primary power equipment (power transformers, SF6 circuit breakers, disconnectors, surge arresters, current/voltage transformers, 35 kV closed switchgear, and 35/0.4 kV auxiliary package transformer substations).

Power Conversion: 9 power conversion systems (PTS) rated at 10 MVA (35/0.69 kV).

Storage Array: 35 battery storage systems of 5 MWh each, bringing the total energy capacity to 175 MWh.

Cable & Comms Networks: routing of 0.4–35 kV cable lines, communication links, and fiber-optic lines (FOEL).

Protection & Site Works: installation of lightning protection, grounding loops, and outdoor site lighting.

Engineering & Commissioning: testing and commissioning of relay protection, automation, and automated control systems (ACS) across all voltage levels (0.4–110 kV), alongside rigorous equipment testing.

From the very first cable laid to the final successful testing, the entire scope was delivered using EDS's internal capabilities. Facilities like this form the foundation of the country's new energy resilience, and this is exactly the direction we continue to pioneer.
