Industrial design competition: results
⚡️ It's no secret that EDS Ukraine pays a lot of attention to educating young people and forming strong personnel not only for itself, but also for the entire electric power industry system. We are investing and worrying about the future of our country's energy system today! And in this regard, we have a strong partner with whom we agree in our views, NTU "Dnipro Polytechnic".
Today, our group faced problems that there are not enough professional specialists who would be engaged in product development not only in terms of its functional purpose, but also in terms of making it aesthetically pleasing, attractive and beautiful. In our opinion, this is an integral part of any quality product-aesthetic appearance.
And we started our search and realized that there is such a problem: there are no ready-made specialists who can solve all the problems at once. While the experiment, together with our partners, we decided to try to invent a format by which we can, on the one hand, attract future specialists in this area, and on the other hand, find specialists who can solve the problem efficiently.
That is why we decided to jointly hold Ukraine's first industrial design competition.
To create projects, participants were offered three topics::
- Електро electric car
- Fast DC charging station
- Disconnector 10 kV.
👥 At the beginning, 16 participants developed their own sketches and 3D models.
✅ 5 projects were selected from them.
The selection criteria were: general compliance with the vehicle, sketch (quality, style, detail, elements), the rationality of the form, expressiveness, innovation and creativity. Participants were allowed to publicly present their projects. It was important for students to show the ability of self-presentation, defending and argumentation of the choice of a particular solution, and the quality of answers to questions was also considered.
Participants were able to test their strength, gained invaluable experience in terms of competencies and improving skills, including teamwork. In addition, this is an excellent opportunity for the university to see opportunities to enhance the training program and make the specialists they graduate with even stronger.
Overall, the main goal for the participants was to demonstrate what they could do.
And we will confidently confirm that they can!
So, the winners of the contest:
I place: Ivan Savitsky, first-year Department of Design, Technical Aesthetics and design student. Subject: disconnectors.
II place: Vladimir Strutsenko with the electric car project.
III place: Yegor Bologin, who developed the charging station model.
All prize-winners received a cash reward and offers for further cooperation with EDS Ukraine.
Obviously, this is not the last such competition so that it will continue!
