"Bolshaya Мedveditsa" is to be!

08/07/2020

The EDS Project team, a member of the EDS group, carries out design and survey work for the construction of a 100 MW solar station in Mezhivskyi district, Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

In the days of absurdity, when the government is fighting against the "green threat" by turning a blind eye to its own strategies for the RES development, the conscious investors understand the inevitability of the transition to renewable sources and do not stand still waiting for the rules of the game.

In order to further implement their strategic plans, between one of these investors and the EDS Project company was signed a contract for the design of a 100 MW SPS in the Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Within the framework of the project, the first stage has already been completed, namely the development of feasibility study (FS) of the SPS connection diagram to the electrical grids.

The EDS Project specialists analyzed the grid, calculated possible modes of its operation, simulated the static and dynamic stability of the power system and selected the optimal connection diagram.

It is the plan of the designed grids for connecting the specified SPS that is very similar to the shape of the constellation Ursa Major (Bolshaya Medveditsa in Russian) – hence the internal name of this facility.

The FS development for such large-scale projects plays an important role, since at the start it provides an understanding of possible problems and "bottlenecks" when connecting the facility, which is becoming more difficult and longer every year.

Understanding the main problems of the further RES facilities development, namely the power grid balancing, the EDS Project is considering possible options for using BESS (battery energy storage systems) for the specified SPS.

The realization of the facility will provide electrical energy to the scarce eastern regions, support the global strategy for the RES development and “decarbonization” of the energy sector.
